This is a masterful introduction to the art therapies.......

As an experienced clinician/psychologist who has just started classes for a certificate in
art therapy, I found this little book to be a terrific compilation of introductory information
on art therapy. The book lives up to its' SOURCEBOOK title. The over-view of the subject is
artfully written, easy to read and the resources are great for the beginner in this expanding
field of the art therapies. I think that all clinical,mental health service providers would
benefit from reading this book as they strive to offer treatment alternatives for their clients.
If mental health practitioners did more exploring of alternative non-verbal ways into the mind
of their clients, while sharing discoveries with their clients, we might all think more of taking
our clients off of drugs and offering them art, music, theater, dance as ways to work through
their difficulties. I URGE ALL CLINICAL MENTAL HEALTH WORKERS TO CONSIDER WHAT THIS BOOK HAS
TO OFFER.
Art and music and dance all awaken the sleeping/suffering brain and we must take responsibility for
introducing them to ourselves and our clients as ways we already have in us to create more peaceful, less
stressful and more enlightened ways of bringing wellness to our daily lives.

A book of wisdom for all therapists dealing with children

Nothing about Dr. Greenwald's book is derivative. His ideas are refreshing, creative but also theoretically sound. This is a very comprehensive and readable book that will improve the skills of any therapist from the novice to the very seasoned. Dr. Greenwald offers a way to reconceptualize trauma that is client-centered and can reach preschoolers through adolescents. His techniques are respectful of children's developmental level. This book is very practical, offering theoretical and research underpinnings of trauma and working through the initial interview, case formulation, resource installation and resolution of trauma. The sections on resource installation(that is building on the child's strengths) and resolution contain the best ideas I've seen in over twenty years of clinical practice. The last part of the book addresses issues in the daily life of the child including parenting. I have found Dr. Greenwald's website childtrauma.com to be a treasure trove. In this very difficult line of work, this book offers the practical wisdom and the sage approach that can fine-tune a therapist and bring effective results. I am very grateful for this book.

An intuitive and practical guide for working with traumatized children

Finally! A comprehensive framework that conceptualizes trauma treatment for children in a way that makes intuitive and practical sense.

Dr. Greenwald's Child Trauma Handbook strikes a new chord as it hits several critical points often missing in discussion of trauma treatment for children. He emphasizes the need for collaboration between therapist, caregivers and other professionals to establish and maintain safety and stability for the child. Dr. Greenwald describes a trauma-informed case formulation that provides an understanding of how important the trauma piece is for everyone involved and why it's important in changing a child's behavior. The importance of understanding and working with triggers is explained, as is identifying and planning for anticipated challenges.

Dr. Greenwald's book is straightforward, clear and concise. It is an invaluable tool both for the beginning therapist learning to work with traumatized children and the more seasoned professionals who have been looking for just this framework to enhance their practice.

Treating Trauma in Children & Teens Made Easy

This is one of the best books I've used when dealing with trauma and children or teens. It is a step by step menu to help therapists move from the beginning to the resolution. If this were just the content, the book far surpasses many resources in understanding, engaging, and treating children of all ages who have exprienced trauma. However, the additional information on engaging parents and school personel is excellent. It also presents wonderful case examples to support the content. And the sections that discuss the known treatment models for trauma are clear, concise, and give concrete examples. Ricky Greenwald has really excelled in this literary endeavor to provide therapists all over the world with knowledge and treatment suggestions to work with our most valuable resource - our children! I use this book on a regular basis to support, validate, and enhance my treatment of children. Thank you Ricky!

A must for all DB2 SQL lovers

I think it is one of the best books on SQL optimization I have read. There are plenty of examples which you can readily try out and that makes the concepts really stick. The only one thing that stood out bad was that, the concepts are not together and scattered and that makes going back and forth a bit, so clubbing them into more meaningful topics and subsequently adding more topics as opposed to having all the 100+ tips in one chapter will help. But over all a good experience!

Great kid's book

I meant to buy the full book and got this one by mistake because I didn't read the description. That being said, this is written on a kid reading level, and my 7 year old had virtually no problems with it (other than the made up Star Wars words that she needed help reading). It's good quality and has pictures from the movie in it to go with the story. Overall she really enjoyed reading it.

Everybody use a blue laser sword!

This is a great book for anyone who is a Star Wars fanatic. While there are some differences in character descriptions in this book it is mostly unimportant. You get a much better feeling of what emotions the characters are going through during different scenes. You also get a much better idea of the lessons Yoda puts Luke through, as well as a better feel of time passing during the relationship. The movie always made it seem that a couple days go by, but the book somewhat shows more time passing.

I was a little dissapointed with the ending of the book. It may just be me but it felt less intense than the rest of the writing. However, Darth Vader's emotional attack on Luke is explained beautifully.

Anyone who wishes to feel a more detailed example of how much emotion and manipulation is involved towards Luke from both Yoda and Vader should definitely pick up this book

Short on substance and details

Having purchased two other books of this nature by Mr. Lang, I placed myself on the waiting list at Amazon and waited months the get the book in my hands. I did not hesitate to break it out of the packaging and dove right into it. The first forty-five pages were dedicated to the history and other background information necessary to get a good understanding of the Greenes' design concepts and the practical methods used by the Hall brothers to construct the pieces. I was very disappointed with the scant number of details that one might expect from such a technical manual. There are a few photographs that show some of the processes (most of us know how to use a shoulder plane) but what was lacking were drawings to reinforce or to make clear some of the principles Lang was trying to describe. The book read like a series of essays rather than a substantive, technical manual with supporting details.

The actual measured drawings are just that as they lack certain pertinent construction details. I am a fairly skilled woodworker, having started the craft at the age of fourteen and have continued until today, even after a successful career in architecture; and what I have concluded is that this book was hurriedly put together to meet some preset deadline. It is my opinion that if more time and thought was given by the author to the details it would have resulted in a much better book.

So I am sorely disappointed with the contents and the lack of detailing and would not recommend this book to anyone but very experienced woodworkers. Mr. Lang has missed the mark this time and what a pity.

I really like this book. We just bought a house and I am going to make or replace all the furniture with G&G inspired designs. This book is a great addition to my woodworking library for that purpose.

    It's for beginners.

    I bought this book to brush up Listening and Structure Comprehenshions. Even if I had many problems with listeing, I could get perfect scores in Listening Section. I suppose this book is too easy for students who aim at more than 550. Not only did I wasted time, but my score was not improved.

    This is a great book if you want to take TOEFL, but more importantly it is great to bring your everyday conversation to a higher level. I highly recommend it.

    If you have Barron Toefl Preparation book, you should never buy this one.. Its reading parts same as preparation book, they just called same book in "a different name"..
